Google Maps 4.1 for Android: Set a map as your live wallpaper


Google has launched an updated version of Google Maps for Android. It packs a handful of new features including:

  • Google Maps 4.1 comes with a new home screen widgets that let you see your contacts’ locations view Google Latitude
  • If you’re using Android 2.1, you can set a map as a live wallpaper, allowing you to see live traffic or other information on your home screen
  • Updated search results page with all the information on a single page, no tabs needed
  • When viewing a location page you can swipe left or right to see the address, reviews, and other information about additional locations
  • Ability to switch Google Accounts within Google Maps

The new version of Google Maps for Android is available for Android 1.6 and up. The application is available as a free download from the Android Market.
