HBO Go for Android, iOS now available for HBO subscribers

As expected, HBO has launched mobile apps for iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, and Android devices. You can download the HBO Go app for your device from the Android Market or iTunes App Store — but the free app will only work if you’re a paying HBO subscriber.

You’ll need to enter details for your cable, satellite, or telephone company subscription to get the app up and running.

HBO Go offers full length episodes of HBO original TV programs as well as movies, sports events and comedy specials. Right now the network says there are 1400 items available to stream.

The move comes as a bit of a pleasant surprise, since I hadn’t been expecting to see HBO Go for Android devices until next week.
