Flickbooks turns your iPhone videos into a flip book – enter to win!

Flipbooks are those little paperback books with a series of images arranged so that you can flip from front to back and watch what looks like a very short movie. Flickbooks is an iPhone app that lets you create a flipbook.
Here’s how it works. You download and install the free app, shoot a short video with your iPhone’s camera, design front and back covers, and then pay for Flickbooks to turn your movie into a book. The company will mail your book to you in about two weeks.
You can shoot your video from within the app or select an existing video in your camera roll and then use the app to crop your favorite part of the video. The full sequence should be between 6 and 15 seconds. The finished flipbook will only be 50 pages, so anything too long or too short can’t be turned into a book.
It normally costs €9.90 (about $14) plus shipping to print the book. But the folks at Flickbook are giving away free flickbooks to 3 Mobiputing readers. But even if you don’t win, you can get a 25% off voucher.
WeatherBug Elite free today from the Amazon Appstore

WeatherBug provides several weather apps for Android, with WeatherBug Elite sitting at the top of the heap. This version of the app is ad-free and includes some premium features including radar animations. Normally the app costs $1.99, but Amazon is offering WeatherBug Elite for free today only.
I took the app for a spin, and while I’m not exactly a weather junkie (I don’t see much need for the photos from nearby weather cams, or doppler radar for instance, but I know many folks love these features), I am impressed with the sheer number of details available including current conditions (temperature, wind chill, high, low, precipitation level and wind speed and direction) and extended forecasts.
WeatherBug Elite also offers four different home screen widgets to choose from, including a 3-day forecast widget, or two smaller widgets which show current conditions. There’s also a map widget which shows conditions throughout the region.
The app is available from the Android Market for $1.99, or you can grab it for free from Amazon today. Amazon offers one normally paid app for free each day — and I’ve noticed that if you download the app while it’s free and the uninstall it to save space on your phone, you can always re-download it from the Amazon Appstore for free later without being charged.
Mobiputing giveaway: AT&T Zero Charger

The AT&T Zero Charger is a power adapter that lets you recharge any mobile device that charges through a USB cable. It also uses technology from Freescale which is designed to automatically shut off the charger when your battery is full to kill vampire energy draw.
When I met with Freescale earlier this year, the company gave me a Zero charger. I’ve tested it periodically over the past few months, and I have to say the blue light that’s supposed to go dark when your battery is full never seems to actually go dark — so I’m not sure the Zero charger actually works as promised.
On the bright side, it does a beautiful job of letting you charge any smartphone or other device. If you have a phone that came only with a USB cable and not a wall adapter — or if you’re looking for a spare travel adapter, this little guy could come in handy.
I’m going to give away the Zero Charger to one Mobiputing reader. All you have to do to win is “Like” us on Facebook. We’ll randomly pick a winner from our Facebook fan page on Wednesday, March 30th.
The contest is open to readers anywhere in the globe — with the exception of Liliputing writers or close friends or family members.
Please note that this contest is for the charger. It does not include a USB cable.

Find high quality mobile wallpapers with Grallery
Grallery is a free app for iPhone that makes the tedious work of finding superb smartphone wallpaper easy. Personalizing the iPhone in detail is no easy task, but Grallery makes the process feel natural and simple.
The app is essentially a library of user generated wallpapers, and its user interface is stunningly clean. The Grallery icon itself is a crisply designed logo, and the corresponding launch screen is also charming. Browse the large selection of artwork and photography, then preview the wallpaper in full-screen mode.
Despite Grallery’s inclusion of ads, the previews look fantastic. To add the wallpaper to your Camera Roll, just tap the download button on the transparent/black control bar.

How to add Pocket Informant task info to your (jailbroken) iPhone lock screen
The basic purpose of the iPhone lock screen is to keep your device from turning on accidentally when it’s in your pocket. But that doesn’t mean that the only thing that matters on the screen is the “slide to unlock” switch at the bottom of the screen, as anyone who’s ever pulled their phone out of their pocket just to check the time can tell you.
While Apple doesn’t make it very easy to customize the lock screen, if you have a jailbroken iOS device you can install a nifty app called LockInfo which lets view Mail, Calendar, SMS, Phone, and other information on your lock screen. Just tap the power or Home button on your device to turn on the screen and you get an overview of your important information, no sliding required.
But what about tasks from a third party calendar/task app like Pocket Informant? No problem. While the developers of Pocket Informant aren’t officially supporting the project, a third party developer has developed a Pocket Informant plugin for LockInfo.
In order to use the widget, you’ll need a jailbroken iPhone or iPod touch with Pocket Informant and LockInfo installed. Then you can download the “Pocket Informant Tasks Plugin for LockInfo Native” plugin from the Cydia store to see tasks from PI on your lock screen.
BlackBerry Traffic app offers crowd-sourced traffic info
Research in Motion recently rolled out a new app which provides real-time traffic updates, courtesy of other BlackBerry users. From an end-user perspective, you simply enter and address and BlackBerry Traffic will estimate how long it will take for you to get from point A to point B, based on current conditions or historical data if current information isn’t available.
You can set home and work addresses for your daily commute, but you can also search for a location or use an address from one of your phone contacts.
The app can suggest alternate routes when there’s heavy traffic, and you can share your estimated time of arrival with your contacts.
BlackBerry Traffic gets its data from other people using the app. When you’re running BlackBerry Traffic, the software anonymously collects your speed and position data to help other users.
The app is available as a free download for BlackBerry phones running OS 4.6 and up. You’ll need a phone with GPS, and you’ll need to be in North America for the app to work.
