SugarSync web interface improves mobile sync capabilities for iOS
SugarSync doesn’t seem to generate the same amount of buzz as DropBox amongst the cool kids, the service offers a very strong (and enterprise-friendly) synchronization and backup platform. The company has just outed a new enhancement which makes SugarSync an even better option for power users who like extra control measures: mobile device management.
In the SugarSync web interface, the devices section now lets you view all the files and folders which are currently synced to your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Transferring files has gotten easier as well, as SugarSync’s desktop app now offers direct uploading to iOS devices — and support for Android and BlackBerry will be arriving in the near future. When new files are uploaded to your cloud storage, SugarSync will send a push notification to your device to let you know that they’re available for syncing. For a look at how the new mobile device management features work, have a look at screencast embedded below.
The company has also updated its BlackBerry app recently to bring it up to date with the SugarSync apps for Android and iOS.

SugarSync app for BlackBerry updated to v2.0
SugarSync, a popular file backup & sharing service recently updated its app for BlackBerry to version 2.0.
In addition to increasing the performance and reliability, SugarSync revamped the user interface with an improved layout and created tabs for easier navigation. Sharing was also made easier by integrating your native email account for file and folder sharing. Users will also have the ability to copy public links and paste them into any application or email message.
SugarSync’s fans are pretty dedicated, despite it being a paid service, whereas much of its competition is free. Prior to this update, however, its BlackBerry-using fans were quite disappointed with the BlackBerry app. But with version 2.0′s improved UI that’s more sleek and intuitive, it looks like the BlackBerry app is no longer behind (or as far behind) its Android and iOS counterparts.
You can download SugarSync’s 30 day free trial or check out other pricing plans starting at $9.99/month on its SugarSync.com.

SugarSync for Android update brings AutoSync

Online file synchronization service SugarSync lets you back up files from your computer and access them on the go using another computer or a mobile app. Today the company has released an updated Android app which also makes it easy to backup files from your smartphone or tablet thanks to a new AutoSync feature.
AutoSync automatically backs up photos from your Android phone’s camera roll to the web making it easy to access them from anywhere — or to download them to your desktop without using any wires or emailing photos to yourself.
You can also enable support for AutoSync folders, synchronizing documents and other files in folders on your mobile device.
Since SugarSync is a synchronization service, and not just a backup utility, it supports two-way sync. If you change a document on your computer, the changes will be reflected on your phone, and vice versa. SugarSync can check for updates and sync your files in the background, so you don’t need to leave the app running for it to do its thing.
SugarSync is available as a free download from the Android Market. SugarSync provides 5GB of online storage for free. Larger plans start at $4.99 per month (or $49.99 per year) for 30GB of space.

SugarSync for iOS gets enhanced file and folder sharing
SugarSync is a popular online service for backing up files, sharing them over the internet, and accessing them on the go. This week SugarSync launched a new version of its mobile app for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The new version brings in greater access, control and sharing of files and folders for iOS device users. It also allows more file and folder manager tasks to be performed as if you were using a computer.
One of the new feature is a simpler way of sending files from your iOS device. Now, you just need to select the “Copy Link to Clipboard” option within the app and share the file link using another app such as email, Facebook, Twitter and others. The recipient of your files or folders will receive an email containing the link which if clicked will automatically download the files.
The app also now allows you to share multiple files or folders all at once. You can also now share files or folders using your device’s native address book. The update also brings enhanced its performance and stability.
Other features of this iOS app include the ability to stream music as you multitask, get your photos onto your iOS device and the addition of in-app referral capabilities, allowing you to earn more free storage by referring friends to SugarSync.
SugarSync for iOS is available as a free download from the iTunes App Store. SugarSync offers 5GB of online storage for free. A 30GB plan will cost you $4.99 monthly.

4 Cloud-based storage apps for Android

SugarSync, ZumoDrive, Dropbox, and HomePipe are three apps that let you access files from your computer on your mobile phone. I mean, that’s not all they do. They actually let you synchronize files between computers, and store some of your files on the web — making it easy to access documents, music, photos, videos, or other files from virtually any computer with a web browser. But in the last day or so, we’ve seen updates from all three companies making it easier to do those things with an Android phone.
HomePipe
HomePipe launched its Android app this morning. It lets users access files on their home network on their phones using a 3G or WiFi connection.
You can run HomePipe on any Windows or Mac computer to stream your files over the internet to your phone. HomePipe offers unlimited storage — because files are actually streaming from your home network, not a cloud-based server. Unfortunately, this means that if you turn off your computer, you won’t be able to access your files remotely.
HomePipe for Android is available as a free download from the Android Market. There’s also a free app for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. You can download the PC server software from HomePipe.net.
