Research in Motion has launched a new beta tester program called BlackBerry Beta Zone. Users can sign up for free and get a chance to test pre-release software, which right now includes the official BlackBerry twitter app which isn’t yet available to the general public.

Clearly, beta software can be unstable or buggy at times. But if you have a Blackberry and you’re always looking for more things to do with it, this looks like a good opportunity. You can also provide feedback and help improve future software releases.

RIM also has a separate channel called the BlackBerry App World Test Center, which lets you test pre-release software from third parties, and not just Research in Motion.

The BlackBerry Beta Zone program is open to BlackBerry users in the US, UK, and Canada.
