Apple isn’t expected to start shipping the iPad outside of the US until May 28th. But the company appears to have turned on the App Store internationally, which should come as a great relief to folks who picked up an iPad from the US for use in other parts of the globe.

Chris Davies at SlashGear is in the UK, and he found that this morning he was able to load up the App Store on his iPad for the first time. And Engadget notes that the iPad App Store appears to be active in Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Australia, among other places.
