Most Asus netbooks, notebooks, and desktops ship with free access to the Asus WebStorage service, which lets you store between 1GB and 500GB of data online. You can use WebStorage to backup files from your hard drive, or to share data between multiple computers. Now you can also access your files on an Android device using the Asus WebStorage app, which is available as a free download from the Android Market.

The app works with any device running Android 1.5 and up. You can use it to browse or search for your files, download them to your phone, or even open some file types using either the Android WebStorage app or other apps on your device.

For instance, while the WebStorage app will play MP3 files, when you tap on an audio file in a different format, you’ll get a pop up menu asking which app (including the default Android music app) you’d like to use to open the file.

You can also upload files from your phone to your web storage space. But uploading files is just the tip of the iceberg, because you can also create files to upload. Say you want to send yourself a memo that you’ll be able to access on your Asus PC? Just tap the audio button, record a voice memo, and click upload to send it on its way. You can also shoot a video, snap a photo, or jot a note.

Asus WebStorage is available as a free download from the Android Market.
