Over a million people have signed up for Google Voice over the past year. The service lets you give out one number to ring all of your phones, and also gives you a lot of control over how you manage your incoming calls and voicemail messages.

The only catch is that Google Voice has been in private beta for the past year. Today Google has finally opened Google Voice to the public, which means that anyone in the United States can sign up for an account.
