It’s not that hard to open up the web browser on a mobile phone and find movie reviews or showtimes. But it’s a heck of a lot easier to use a dedicated app like Movies from Flixter sometimes.
This free Android app will show you the latest movies that are at the top of the box office this week, upcoming films, and a list of theaters and showtimes near you based on your geographic location. You can also get reviews for films courtesy of Rotten Tomatoes.
There’s Yelp integration, letting you find restaurants to grab a bit to eat before or after a movie. And you can find the locations of nearby theaters on a Google Map. Most films also have links for photos and movie trailers. There’s information about upcoming movies, and there’s also a DVD section for information about new releases, upcoming releases, and existing films that are out on DVD.
You can bookmark or rate movies, or make a lit of “movies I want to see.”
Movies is available as a free download from the Android Market.
