C-ThruFone is a Live wallpaper for Android 2.1 and up which uses a live feed from your phone’s camera as the background for your home screen. The effect is pretty cool, if somewhat useless.

The developer says you’ll “never trip up when checking your widgets walking again,” but I think that’s a solution looking for a problem. Honestly, the only reason to install C-ThruFone is because it’s cool.

Unfortunately it’s also a little buggy. On my Google Nexus One, the camera image was displayed at a 90 degree angle. Reading through some of the comments in the Android Market, it looks like I’m not the only one. Some users have also reported that they get Force Close error messages. Your results may vary.

C-ThruFone is available as a free download from the Android Market.
