Kinoma Player is one of the best known media players for classic Palm OS devices. It’s been around since 2002, but on August 1st Kinoma is going to stop selling Kinoma Player for Palm OS. And two months later, official support for the product will cease.
The company is also killing off the Konoma Producer apps for Windows and OS X at the same time.
On the one hand, the move makes plenty of sense. Why support an operating system that’s not shipping on many devices anymore. I’m sure Kinoma Player Palm OS sales have been pretty low for a while, so this is probably just formalizing the fact that the nail was already in the coffin, while freeing up the folks at Kinoma to work on other things. On the other hand, it’s sad to see any classic app like this go.
Kinoma Play for Windows Mobile is still available for $29.99.
