Microsoft has launched a new version of its Bing search app for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Bing 1.3 includes retooled travel and map functions, including:

  • Search for flights and get tips on whether to wait for better fares using Bing’s price predictor
  • View nearby locations in Maps
  • Enhanced traffic info, business listings, other info for Maps

While it might cause a bit of cognitive dissonance to run a Microsoft app on an Apple mobile device, Bing for iOS is a pretty robust search tool, with nearly a dozen search engines built into one app. There are also Shopping, News, Movies, and Image search functions and a camera tool that lets you search for items by scanning barcodes with a camera using iOS 4.0 and up.

The Bing app is available as a free download from the App Store.
