Crackle has launched a new streaming video app for Google Android. In case you’re not familiar with Crackle, it’s a service from Sony which offers streaming TV, movies, and web series. The mobile off makes all of those things available — but you’ll need to pony up some cash if you want to watch the full length movies or TV shows.

The free app does let you see some web series, as well as a number of “minisodes,” which are basically sitcoms and dramas edited down to 5 minutes. Some of the Minisodes are from shows such as Married with Children, Mad About You, The Jeffersons, and I Dream of Jeannie. There’s even some more recent content, such as Rescue Me minisodes.

Still, if you want to take full advantage of the service, you’re going to want to consider paying $4.99 per month to download the premium version of the app from the Android Market. You can also get multi-month discounts by paying $12.99 for 3 months or $24.99 for 6 months.

That said, the TV and movie selection didn’t look all that intriguing to me. Most of the titles are older movies. The video quality was also pretty poor when I watched a few free videos.

I suppose $4.99 is less than you would pay to rent two movies, so if there are a few flicks you’re thinking of watching this month it might be worth signing up.
