HootSuite offers Tiwtter apps for Google Android and Apple iOS. Right now the company offers two versions, a free app and a paid version, but starting on October 13th (at noon Pacific Time), you’ll be able to install the full version for free.

Basically it looks like the company is changing its business model a bit. HootSuite will still let users update their Twitter status, see the latest messages, direct messages, and @mentions, user Twitter search, and even create custom streams.  But soon you won’t need to pay $2.99 for the full version of the app to track Ow.ly link stats.

That said, HootSuite will be offering Pro user accounts which will offer advanced stats and additional features. So while you’ll be able to download the app for free, you’ll have to sign up for a Pro account if you want access to those premium features.  A Pro account will set you back $5.99 per month, which is considerably more than the $2.99 users currently pay for the full version of the app, but Pro users will have an ad-free interface, Google Analytics data, unlimited stats history, and other premium features.

On the other hand, it looks like existing users who have already paid for the full app will get some Pro features for free… and if you buy the app before October 13th, you’ll also be able to get the ad-free interface and unlimited social networks, although you won’t get all of the pro features.
