Google has quietly launched an update to the Android Market, which adds a related tab to the descriptions of some apps. In addition to reading the release notes and description in the about tab, and comments from other users, you can now see a list of similar apps.

For instance, when viewing the description for Adobe Flash Player, the Market now tells me that Adobe AIR and Adobe Flash Showcase are related apps I might want to check out.

The update makes it easier to find apps that play well together — or alternative apps you might want to try instead of the app you’re currently viewing.

The new related apps feature should be available for most phones running Android 2.2. If you don’t see the new feature yet, you can try clearing the data and cache for the Android Market in the Manage Applications tab in your Android settings menu.
