The designers at The Astonishing Tribe (TAT) have put together some of the most interesting concept designs around for mobile user interfaces — much of it related to Google’s Android OS. The company helped develop the user interface for the first Android phone, the T-Mobile G1. Earlier this year the firm put out concept video showing a home screen replacement for Android called TAT Home. And earlier this month TAT released a few slick looking live wallpapers for Google Android. But it looks like TAT’s days of working on Android may be over.
Research in Motion has announced plans to acquire The Astonishing Tribe. The team will begin developing for BlackBerry smartphones and the BlackBerry PlayBook.
This is great news for BlackBerry users, as TAT knows how to make mobile software both flashy and useful. But I doubt the TAT Home software for Android will ever see the light of day.
You can check out a concept video of TAT Home after the break.
