Google is apparently starting to add instant preview to search results for some iOS users. Here’s how it works. A little magnifying glass shows up next to your search results. When you tap that icon, you get a quick pop-up which shows you some of the content from that web site without actually fully loading the web page. That way you can get a sense of what the page looks like without your mobile browser having to go through the trouble of rendering the page, which can reduce processing power and prolong your battery life.

The folks at 9to5mac report that the feature isn’t available for the iPhone 4 or iPad, and I can confirm that it doesn’t show up on my 4th generation iPod touch — but a number of users say that they are seeing instant previews on other iOS devices.
