The developers behind the popular CyanogenMod custom Android software for smartphones are pushing out release candidates for version 7. CyanogenMod-7 RC features a customizable lock screen, gesture support throughout the operating system, and a new style for the music app.

The custom ROM is based on Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread and supports a wide range of phones including the HTC Evo, MyTouch 4G, Aria, G2, and Google Nexus One. Support for the Samsung Galaxy S is still in the works,

The official release candidates don’t support 4G mobile broadband or HDMI output, so if you have a phone with either of those features you may want to hold off on installing CyanogenMod–7 for a while.
