Yahoo is introducing a new app which will deliver personalized news and media to users based on their preferences. The Livestand app will be available soon for the Apple iPad and Android tablets.

The idea is that Livestand will draw content from around the web based on your location, interests, and the time of day. Content will come from Yahoo’s Sports, News, and Finance properties, as well as Flickr and the Yahoo Contributor Network (which seems to be the name Yahoo is giving to the content farm it acquired from Associated Content).

Eventually Livestand may also make the jump from tablets to smartphones and other devices.

  1. It has a pretty clean look to it. Not sure if this is much better than just going to Yahoo’s news page or having a nice RSS reader, but I can’t blame them for trying to improve the Yahoo experience and make it more relevant again.
