Fixmo has introduced a public beta of a new app called Fixmo Extend which lets you tether a BlackBerry phone to a PC to share your mobile broadband connection. The app is available as a free download while in beta, and lets you tether your phone without paying any extra charges to your wireless carrier.

Of course, if you don’t have an unlimited data plan, you’ll still want to monitor your data use. It’s a lot easier to use up 5GB of data quickly on a PC than on a smartphone. So Fixmo Extend offers bandwidth monitoring charts to help you keep track of how much data you’re using.

In order to use Fixmo Extend you’ll need to download an app for your BlackBerry device and another for your Windows PC. You’ll also need a USB cable to connect your phone to your computer. The app supports BlackBerry OS 4.6 and up and Windows XP and up.
