Google improves mobile finance search results

March 31, 2011 By Brad Linder

Google has offered a mobile view for financial data at finance.google.com for a while. But now the company has rolled out a streamlined way to get detailed information about stocks with a quick search in a mobile browser. Just fire up a web browser on an iPhone or Android phone running Android 2.1 and up and search for a stock symbol.

The search result page will show you the current price, as well as the day’s high and low prices along with other data including volume and market cap. There’s also a chart, allowing you to view the stock’s price over the past day, 5 days, month, or a longer period.

From the new stock view, you can also swipe across the screen to view Google News headlines related to the stock ticker, market overview graphics, and information for your personal portfolio if you have a Google Finance account and you’re logged in.
