A growing number of phones and tablets are hitting the market this year with NVIDIA Tegra 2 chips, which means they can handle high performance 3D graphics as well as HD video. But the Android Market is choc full of games which don’t take advantage of all of Tegra’s features. So NVIDIA has launched an app called Tegra Zone, which acts as an app store for Tegra-optimized games.

The app is attractive and well laid out… but right now there are only 9 games in the Tegra Zone which makes the app store look a little sparse. Still, there are ratings, descriptions, images and videos for each game, so as the Tegra Zone continues to fill up, it will make a decent companion to the Android Market for anyone looking for games optimized for Tegra powered devices.

When it comes time to actually purchase an app, the Tegra Zone dumps you out to the Android Market to complete the transaction.

You can download Tegra Zone from the Android Market. You don’t need a device with an NVIDIA Tegra chip to install it, but it certainly helps.
