Today, Qik announced its latest connectivity project for iOS: Qik Video Connect. Two versions of Video Connect are will be available, a free app and [itunes link=”http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/qik-video-connect-plus/id424106070?mt=8&uo=4″ title=”Qik Video Connect Plus” text=” Qik Video Connect Plus”] ($2.99), which is available today.
Qik Video Connect streams live video directly to your Qik.com user page, also called the social video feed. It’s also offering high-quality live video calling over 3G, Wi-Fi, video messaging and video sharing.
If your friends aren’t available for a live video chat, simply message them a video, or even post the live video link directly to Facebook or Twitter (Qik calls this ‘Friendcasting’). The app is integrated with your iOS device’s contact list so you can see when your friends or family are available for a live video chat.
The premiun version of Qik Video Connect adds some fresh and innovative features to the Qik experience. These include enhanced features like real-time video effects, the capability to edit your videos prior to upload, and HD video quality uploads. This version also includes the ability to add Qik videos to your device’s camera roll.
The app is compatible with iPhone and 4th generation iPod Touch models running iOS 4 or later. The free version of Qik Video Connect should be available soon.
