Viber is an app that lets you make free voice calls to other Viber users over the internet. The app only hit the App Store recently, but version 2.0 is now available. Previously, the app only allows you to call another Viber users for free for as long as your iPhone is online via 3G or Wi-Fi. With the new version, you can also send text messages free of charge.
There’s a new tab called “Messages.” You can see all your messages in this tab and from here you can create and send new sms to other Viber users. In addition, the app also sends you notifications whenever another Viber user sends you a text message. The app’s “Contacts” interface has also been also refreshed. It now allows you to filter your contacts and find out which ones are already using Viber. You can also set this interface to display only your favorite contacts.
Finally, the app’s calling mechanism was also given some enhancements, specifically the creation of the “calling state” and “ringing state.” The app goes to the calling state when you’re making a call and into the ringing state once it has connected to the other Viber user.
