MoboPlayer is a new video player for Google Android, and it may just be the most impressive multimedia app I’ve seen for the platform. The app supports most video formats including MP4, MOV, and MKV, and also supports subtitles and multiple audio streams. You can create playlists for continues playback, and the app can also stream internet media using http and rtsp protocols.

I tested playback with a standard definition DiVX file, and the video looked great. The player is also very responsive when pausing or skipping forward or back in a video.

MoboPlayer has a ton of customization options. You can select a primary media folder or browse for files stored in other directories. You can choose whether to only display media files in the browser, adjust the video seek interval, display an optional battery meter in the video window and adjust the sensitivity of gesture-based commands.

The app also lets you use the volume keys on your device to either set play progress or adjust volume. You can change the text size and color for subtitles, and you can also change the background color for the media player.

MoboPlayer is available as a free download from the Android Market. It supports Android 1.6 and up.
