Skype has released an updated version of its Android app plugging a serious security flaw uncovered recently by the folks at Android Police. The new version is designed so that your personal information is much harder to get at and even if you accidentally install malware on your phone, your phone number, email address, contact list and other data won’t be visible to hackers.
In other words, if you’re using Skype on your Andriod phone you should update to the latest version right now.
The update also adds support for making Skype voice calls over 3G. Up until now you could only use the Android app to make calls over a WiFi connection.
Skype for Android is available as a free download from the Android Market.
