Long before the popular iOS Words With Friends app was ported to Android, an independent developer came up with his own multiplayer Scrabble clone for Android called Wordfeud. Now Words With Friends is available for Android… but just to complete the circle, Wordfeud was released for iOS this week.

That means you can fire up Wordfeud on an Android phone and play a game with your iPhone-wielding friends — or with random stranger. The move should dramatically increase the pool of people playing at any given time, which means it shouldn’t be hard to find someone willing to start a game at any minute of the day.

The iPhone version features the same basic look as the Android game, but buttons have been polished with an iOS feel, and back and chat buttons have been added to the top of the screen since iPhones don’t have a menu key.

Wordfeud is available as a free download from the [itunes link=”http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/wordfeud/id428312806?mt=8&uo=4″ title=”wordfeud” text=”iTunes App Store”] and the Android Market.
