Less than three weeks ago, Research in Motion announced the Twitter for BlackBerry 2.0 beta at BlackBerry World ’11. After a rather brief beta, Twitter for BlackBerry 2.0 is now officially available in App World.
With v. 2.0, users will experience simplified navigation as part of an overall redesign of the UI. The overhauled Navigation Bar provides quick access to popular Twitter features, such as lists and messages. The new Nav Bar also now includes a “Compose Tweet” button to create Tweets from anywhere in the app.
There’s also more BlackBerry 6 integration, meaning Twitter will function with Social Feeds, BlackBerry Message List, and Universal Search. The in-app search function is also much faster, and you can view Trends, Saved Searches, and search for people from a single location.
However, some users are reportedly finding issues with v. 2.0. The ability to quote a tweet from someone who is listed as Private is currently absent. The lag and freezing issues are unfortunately not absent, but that may not be a problem with the app itself.
You can download Twitter for BlackBerry 2.0 from BlackBerry App World for free.
