Research in Motion has rolled out a software update for the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. The BlackBerry Tablet OS v1.0.5 brings a handful of new features. None are showstoppers, but overall they should make the experience of using the tablet a little more pleasant.
Here are a few highlights:
- You can now charge the tablet even when it’s turned off.
- You’ll get a notification if you try to use the wrong power adapter with the PlayBook.
- There’s a pop-up power widget for turning off or restarting the tablet, adjusting screen brightness, or viewing the battery status.
- OS v1.0.5 will automatically detect WiFi hotspots.
- There’s support for additional languages.
- RIM has added support for in-app payments to the BlackBerry App World.
- Facebook now comes preloaded.
If you already have a PlayBook you should be prompted to install the update soon, or you can check for an updating the Software Updates section of the Settings Menu.
