Dolphin Browser HD 5.1

Dolphin Browser HD is one of the most powerful, customizable web browsers available for Android. Unfortunately the last version was also one of the buggier browsers to hit the Android Market. While Dolphin Browser HD 5.0 was designed to offer a more attractive user interface, more settings, a new “speed dial” page for quick access to your favorite sites, and a new ad-free user experience, many users found Dolphin HD 5.1 had problems loading web pages.

That’s kind of a problem for a web browser.

After spending a few weeks pushing out beta releases, the Dolphin Team thinks the biggest bugs have been squashed, and Dolphin Browser HD 5.1 is now available for download from the Android Market.

In addition to resolving page loading errors, version 5.1 also takes aim at some other bugs users had reported such as the inability to double-tap to zoom, select text, or save images on some devices. Also when you launch Dolphin by clicking a link in an external app, clicking the “back” button now takes you back to the previous app instead of the new tab page.

I took the new browser for a quick test drive and it appears to be working well on my Google Nexus One. Your results may vary, but version 5.1 appears to be a pretty solid release, even if it simply offers the performance that you would have expected from Dolphin Browser HD 5.0.
