ES File Explorer is one of the most popular file browsers for Google Android. It offers a ton of features and has an attractive and customizable user interface. This weekend the developers pushed out an update which adds even more functionality.
Version 1.6 adds support for online file storage service Dropbox (if you have the Dropbox app installed), as well as support for Vietnamese and Serbian languages. The update also adds the ability to unpack RAR archive files and support for ZIP files with passwords.
There’s a new app manager function that allows you to backup or uninstall applications.
The image browser has also been refreshed with a new preview pane at the bottom of the screen. This allows you to to tap any picture in the file browser to open the image viewer, but then to find additional photos without going back to the main file explorer window first.
That about covers the new features in ES File Explorer 1.6, but the app was already choc full of features such as the ability to select multiple files to copy paste, moves, delete, rename, or share, compress or decompress ZIP files, and access files on other PCs connected to your home network. There’s even a built-in FTP client.
ES Explorer 1.6 is available as a free download from the Android Market.
