One of the iPhone’s most popular games, Fieldrunners HD, is headed to Android.
The tower defense game will be $0.99 for the first 24 hours once it hits the Android Market. After that the price will go up to $2.99. For a tower defense game, $.99 should probably be the price all the time, but as any fan will tell you, Fieldrunners is no ordinary tower defense game.
The app has been specialized for the Android OS with updated artwork and high-definition graphics (both improvements over the iOS and BlackBerry versions.) From what we can see from screenshots, the visuals and colors are superb.
If you’re willing to reduce your productivity by having an enormous amount of fun defending your base from waves of enemy combatants while becoming a Tower Defense Champion, this is a must-have app.
The developers originally planned to offer the app for free for the first 24 hours. However, the Android Market doesn’t allow for free apps to become paid, so at launch the app will be available for 99 cents — but it’s possible we may see a free promotion pop up at another app store soon.

Update: Fieldrunners HD will be available for free from the Amazon Appstore on launch day. After the free promotion the price will go up to $2.99. The game will be an Amazon exclusive for the first two weeks and then it will hit the Android Market. Unfortunately this means Fieldrunners HD for Android will only be available to US customers for two weeks, but
Update 2: The plan has changed. On July 7th the app is free in the Amazon Appstore for US customers, and 99 cents in the Android Market for everyone else. After the launch day promotion ends the price will jump to $2.99 in both stores.

It’s not an Amazon-exclusive for 2 weeks.
It’s also on the normal Android Market; day 1 its 99cents then goes up to 2.99$ to match the Amazon price
Yup, that was a last minute change. I wrote a new post, but forgot to update this one
