Apple is finally packaging the ability to use your iOS device while it’s syncing with iTunes with iOS 5. This long-awaited feature should brighten the day of all iPhone users, as it adds a new level of convenience to the iOS experience.

According to the image above taken by the iPhone Download Blog, the new “syncing” icon is running in the status bar. You can still “slide to unlock” though, meaning the handset is usable–how usable is uncertain. Presumably, your device will be fully functional, but some features might be restricted within the syncing process.

Jailbreakers might already be familiar with this feature, as it was first made possible with the Synchronicity app, which will set you back $2 and is available exclusively in the Cydia Store.
