OnLive plans to launch Android and iOS apps later this year that let users stream PS3, Xbox, and other console-quality video games from a central server. The new apps will let you play games using a virtual on-screen gamepad or an optional Bluetooth controller. But while we wait for those apps, OnLive already offers an iPad app that lets you watch games that others are playing. This week the company released its first OnLive Viewer app for Android… or more specifically, for the HTC Flyer tablet
The folks at xda-developers have already grabbed the installer file and discovered that it works on a number of other devices as well, including the NOOK Color, HTC Thunderbolt, Desire HD, Evo 4G, and Droid X.
Not all devices are currently supported. But we already know that OnLive plans to bring its playable app to tablets running Android 3.x Honeycomb. It’s less clear at the moment whether an official smartphone version is in the works.
