iPhoneIt-iPad

So you’ve got an iPad 3G which can surf the web over a mobile broadband network. Your friends call it an oversized iPhone. But can you use it to make and receive phone calls? Actually yes, yes you can. You just need to jailbreak the iPad and install a $20 app from the Cydia store called iPhoneIt-iPad.

The folks behind the app posted a teaser video a few weeks ago, but now PhoneIt-iPad is available for purchase.

The app supports the first genreation iPad running iOS 4.3.3. You can use it to send and receive SMS messages but not MMS. Unfortuntely the iPad 1 doesn’t support using a Bluetooth headset to make voice calls, so you’re going to want to either use a wired headset or be willing to hold a 9.7 inch tablet up to your head to make calls.
