sn0wbreeze

Hackers have been jailbreaking iOS 5 beta pretty much ever since Apple released the preview version of the next-gen mobile operating system. But up until now all of the jailbreak options I’ve seen have been tethered, which means that you need to plug your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad into a computer and run the software again every time you reboot. Now iH8sn0w has released a new version of sn0wbreeze which supports an untethered jailbreak.

The only catch? It only supports the iPhone 3GS with older bootroms at the moment.

We probably won’t seen an untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 4 and other new devices until iOS 5 is out of beta.
