Want to check out the shiny new BOLT web browser for Google Android? We took a look at the new app a few days ago, but it’s still in private beta which means you need an invitation to check it out. Fortunately the developer just sent us about 500 to give away.

All you have to do is be one of the first 500 people to visit boltbrowser.com/android and enter the code “mobiputing” (without quotes) along with your name and email address to get a download link.

BOLT should be a familiar name to longtime BlackBerry or Windows Mobile users. The new Android version of the app supports tabbed browsing, a web app gallery, pinch-to zoom, and the ability to backup your favorites to the cloud. There’s also support for Flash and HTML5 videos, but the feature only supports some web sites in the beta.

In my tests the browser still felt a little rough around the edges, but that’s why the developers are running a beta test before releasing the web browser to the public. If you want to help kick the tires, make sure to sign up for your invite.

    1. It’s also important to remember that this is a beta. Bitstream can still make some major changes before the final release. But yeah, right now Dolphin is my day-to-day browser as well.
