It’s been a few weeks since Google employee Erica Joy mentioned that Google had submitted an iPhone app for its social networking app to Apple for approval. Today Google+ for iOS finally hit the app store. Unfortunately it only runs on the iPhone at the moment. If you have an iPad or iPod touch you’re stuck with the mobile web interface for now.
The good news is that the Google+ mobile site is actually pretty good. The bad news is that it doesn’t have all the features you can find in the official app. For instance, app users can use the “Huddle” feature to start or join group instant messaging sessions.
The native app also lets you check-in to locations or share photos from your phone. One thing it doesn’t do is allow you to automatically upload all new photos snapped with your camera. That feature appears to be an Android app exclusive for now.
