Musicians The Gregory Brothers have made a name for themselves by Auto-Tuning the news and turning politicians and crime victims into unintentional vocalists and celebrities. Now they’ve released a free iOS app which lets you do the same thing… sort of.

Songify is a simple app which lets you speak into your mobile device’s mic to make a recording and then set the results to music. The app will auto-tune your voice, chop up sentences and repeat key phrases, and play a kind of annoying tune in the background.

Out of the box the free app gives you four different styles to choose from, but you can also purchase additional styles for $0.99 each — allowing you to make songs in the style of the insanely popular Bed Intruder song, for instance.

Honestly, the results aren’t all that impressive. I mean, what do you expect from an app that automatically tries to make your voice fit into one of a handful of pre-defined songs? But Songify is still fun to play with for a minutes, and I bet it makes a great party trick.
