Battle for Wesnoth

The Battle for Wesnoth is a popular open-source turn-based strategy game that runs on Linux, Windows, and Mac computers. Soon you’ll be able to add Android to that list. A developer is porting the game to run on Android phones and tablets and has posted a demo video to YouTube.

The game looks pretty good on a Droid Incredible phone running Android 2.3, and even better on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with a nice big 10 inch display and Android 3.1 operating system.

The game responds to touch input, allowing you to navigate the map by dragging on th escreen or move your units by tapping on the display. Animations are nice and fluid, and pop-up menus are responsive.

The game should be available for download in August.
