Cards

Apple has unveiled a new iOS app called Cards. It will let users design a greeting card on their iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad. But the crazy thing is you can then mail the card anywhere in the world.

I didn’t say email. I said mail. Apple will mail your card for you.

The free app will be available starting October 12th, but Apple will charge $2.99 to deliver cards in the US and $4.99 to deliver cards internationally. That’s actually pretty comparable to the cost of buying a card, sticking a stamp on the envelope and sending it off yourself.

Apple will offer 21 different card designs, and users will be able to attach a photo and fill out text. Apple will handle the rest, and since the app follows the US Postal Service tracking information for your card, Apple will even send you a notification to let you know when the card has been delivered.
