It’s been a year since Amazon opened its Appstore for Android, offering thousands of Android games and apps for phones and tablets including the Amazon Kindle Fire.

The Amazon Appstore now has more than 31,000 apps including free and paid apps — and each day the company offers one paid app free of charge.

Amazon Appstore birthday

Now Amazon is celebrating the Appstore birthday with another sale. For the next week, Amazon will be offering discounts of 50 percent or more on some of the top-selling apps, with new apps added to the sale each day.

The Amazon Appstore still has just a tiny fraction of the apps available from the Google Play Store, but Amazon’s store is available on devices that don’t support the official Google market, including the Kindle Fire and Velocity Micro Cruz T408 and T410 Android tablets.

It’s also not a bad place to find apps on sale even if your device does support the Google Play Store.
