Just hours after Google released the code for Android 4.0.4, the developers behind CyanogenMod started to merge the latest code with their popular version of the operating system.

CyanogenMod is a custom ROM available for dozens of phones and tablets. CyanogenMod 9 is based on Android 4.0 but also features tweaks and customizations from the CyanogenMod team including a custom launcher and boot animation.

The software is still under development, although alpha builds are available for a number of devices and there are “nightly” builds available as well, incorporating the latest experimental changes.

Android 4.0.4, meanwhile, is designed to offer faster performance, smoother auto-rotation, and other improvements which should make Android phones and tablets feels faster and more reliable.
